So I did not put an end to them in My zeal. Therefore declare that I am granting him My covenant of peace. It will be a covenant of perpetual priesthood for him and his descendants, because he was zealous for his God and made atonement for the Israelites."

Role in the Conquest of Canaan

Phinehas continued to play a significant role during the conquest of Canaan. He was involved in the distribution of the land among the tribes of Israel and served as a mediator in disputes. In Joshua 22, when a potential conflict arose between the tribes east of the Jordan and the rest of Israel, Phinehas was sent to investigate and resolve the matter.
