The prophet's words are recorded in 2 Chronicles 19:2-3 : "Jehu son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, 'Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the wrath of the LORD is upon you. However, some good is found in you, for you have removed the Asherah poles from the land and have set your heart to seek God.'"

He traveled among the people, from Beersheba to the hill country of Ephraim, encouraging them to return to the LORD, the God of their fathers (2 Chronicles 19:4).

In addition to his spiritual reforms, Jehoshaphat appointed judges in the land, instructing them to judge with the fear of the LORD and with integrity. He emphasized the importance of justice and righteousness, reminding the judges that they were to act not on behalf of man, but for the LORD (2 Chronicles 19:5-7).

Jehoshaphat also established a judicial system in Jerusalem, appointing Levites, priests, and family heads to administer the law of the LORD and to settle disputes. He charged them to act faithfully and wholeheartedly in the fear of the LORD (2 Chronicles 19:8-11).
