Isaiah 44:5 One shall say, I am the LORD's; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob… 1. "I am His" follows "My Beloved is mine." You must have Christ before you say that you belong to Christ. 2. This is a very practical confession. If I am the Lord's, then I must not give myself up to be the slave of another. 3. It will also be a high incentive to duty to say truly, "I am the Lord's." I must live for Him. 4. This confession has a sweet, comforting aspect. 5. This is my hope of safety and perfection. ( C. H. Spurgeon.) Parallel Verses KJV: One shall say, I am the LORD'S; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel. |
