Isaiah 65:20 There shall be no more there an infant of days, nor an old man that has not filled his days… The verse is a puzzling one. But none the less it is true. The more Christlike men and women become, the nearer they grow to absolute childlikeness. It is with them as with the ripe corn in the autumn; the corn bends its head down again to the ground out of which it sprang in the spring. Just so the saints of God, in their maturity, in their noblest and wisest and heavenliest estate here on earth, resemble most the children — resemble them in their trustfulness and teachableness and lowliness. (A. Smellie, M. A.) Parallel Verses KJV: There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed. |
