Mark 15:24 And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots on them, what every man should take. There was a profligate gamester, whose conversion was attempted by some honest monks, and they in order to break his heart for sin, put into his hands a fine picture of the crucifixion of Christ; but when they inquired what he was studying so intently in the picture, hoping his conversion was going forward, he replied, "I was examining whether the dice, with which the soldiers are casting lots for the garment, be like ours."
