Esther 3:5-6
And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not, nor did him reverence, then was Haman full of wrath.…


Wounded pride excites revenge, and this always burns hottest in the weakest minds. How insatiable is revenge, especially when it is associated with national and religious rancour! Haman learned that Mordecai was a Jew, a name that called up the bitterest recollections in the breast of an Amalekite, and he resolves at once on the total extermination of that people.
