Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. As when a ship nears land, various pilots are sometimes seen to approach and bid for her guidance; then one, and then another, comes up to the vessel till the terms are settled, after which the successful applicant may be watched as the ship is towed out of the channel into the river.
