Oh that you would rend the heavens, that you would come down, that the mountains might flow down at your presence,…


Jehovah is to descend with such irresistible force as fire exerts on brushwood and water, kindling the one, making the other boil, in order by such a display of power to impress His name (revealing itself judicially, therefore, "in fire," Isaiah 30:27; Isaiah 66:15) on HIS adversaries, and that,

(idolatrous) nations may tremble before Him (cf. Psalm 68:2 f.).
