1But Job answered, 2“What great help you have you been to me! How you have encouraged me in my need! 3How you have enlightened me with your insight! How generous your many words of wisdom! 4Who has enabled you to utter all these words? And whose spirit inspired them?

5“The dead tremble – those who beneath the waters. 6Sheol (the realm of the dead) is naked before Him, and destruction lies uncovered. 7He spreads out the northern sky over empty space, and hangs the earth on nothing. 8He contains the waters in His thick clouds; and the clouds are not torn by them. 9He hides the face of the full moon when He spreads His cloud upon it. 10He has set boundaries for the waters, and for day and night. 11The pillars of heaven tremble and are astonished at His rebuke. 12He divides the sea with His power; and by His understanding, He strikes down the proud. 13By His Spirit He has beautified the heavens; His hand has pierced the fleeing serpent. 14Look, these are mere beginnings of His works - merely a whisper of His power is heard of Him! Then who can understand the thunder of His power?”
