Remind them to be subject to rulers, to authorities, to obey rulers, to be ready for every good work,

to speak evil of no one, to be not quarrelsome, gentle, showing all meekness toward all men.

For we were also once foolish, disobedient, being deceived, being in slavery to various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another.

But when the kindness and the love of mankind of God our Savior appeared,

not by works in righteousness that we did, but according to His mercy, He saved us through the washing of regeneration and a renewing of the Holy Spirit,

whom He poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
