Numbers 27:5-11 ▼

5 And Moses brought their case before the face of YHWH,

6 and YHWH spoke to Moses, saying,

7 “The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You surely must give them a possession of inheritance in the midst of the brothers of their father, and cause the inheritance of their father to pass over to them.

8 And you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies and does not have a son unto him, then you⁺ shall cause his inheritance to pass over to his daughter.

9 And if he has no daughter, then you⁺ shall give his inheritance to his brothers.

10 And if he has no brothers, then you⁺ shall give his inheritance to the brothers of his father.

11 And if his father has no brothers, then you⁺ shall give his inheritance to his close relative, the nearest to him, from his family, and he shall possess it. And it shall be to the sons of Israel a statute of judgment, as YHWH has commanded Moses.’”
