1 Now when news of this reached all the kings west of the Jordan (flowing down)—those in the hill country, the foothills {Shephelah}, and all along the coast of the Great Sea (the Mediterranean Sea) toward Lebanon (whiteness) (the Hittites, Amorites (sayers), Canaanites (merchants), Perizzites (villagers), Hivites, and Jebusites (Jerusalemites))— 2 they came together to wage war against Joshua (YHWH saves) and Israel (he wrestles with God).
