13 And the men dug in to return to the land, and they were not able, for the sea was going on and raging against them. 14 And they cried out to YHWH and said: “Ah, O YHWH, please do not let us perish for the soul of this man, and do not put upon us innocent blood. For You, O YHWH, have done as You pleased.” 15 And they picked up Jonah, and they cast him into the sea, and the sea stood from its raging. 16 And the men feared YHWH with great fear, and they offered a sacrifice to YHWH, and they vowed vows. 17 And YHWH appointed a great fish to swallow Jonah.
