1 O YHWH, You are my God! I will exalt You. I will praise Your name, for You have done a wonderful thing, counsel of old, in steadfast faithfulness. 2 For You have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin, a fortress of strangers from a city—forever it will never be rebuilt! 3 Upon thus a strong people will honor You; a city of ruthless nations will fear you. 4 For You have been a stronghold for the poor, a stronghold for the needy one in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat—for the breath of the ruthless ones is like a storm against a wall, 5 like heat in a dry land, the roar of strangers You humble—the heat in the shadow of a cloud, the song of the ruthless ones will be brought low.
