1 Now there was another famine in the land, subsequent to the one that had occurred in Abraham’s (father of many) time. And Isaac (he laughs) went to Abimelech (my father is king) king of the Philistines (immigrants) at Gerar (a lodging place). 2 The LORD {YHWH} appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt (land of bondage). Settle in the land where I tell you. 3 Stay in this land as a foreigner, and I will be with you and bless you.
