In the beginning God {Elohim} created the heavens and the earth.

Now the earth was formless [unseen] and void [unfurnished], and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God {Ruach Elohim} was hovering over the surface of the waters.

And God {Elohim} said, “Let there be light <2Co 4:6>,” and there was light.

And God {Elohim} saw that the light was good (pleasing), and He separated the light from the darkness.

God {Elohim} called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day \day one/.

And God {Elohim} said, “Let there be an expanse (a canopy) between the waters, to separate the waters from the waters.”

So God {Elohim} made the expanse (canopy) and separated the waters beneath it from the waters above. And it was so.
