7 And the Philistines heard that the sons of Israel had gathered together at Mizpah, and the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And the sons of Israel heard, and they were afraid of the Philistines. 8 And the sons of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not cease from crying out to YHWH our God, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.” 9 And Samuel took one suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to YHWH. And Samuel cried out to YHWH for Israel, and YHWH answered him. 10 And Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, and the Philistines drew near to the battle against Israel.
