1 Chronicles 26:1-9 ▼

1 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers: From the Korahites (one of Korah): Meshelemiah (whom YHWH repays) son of Kore (crier), one of the sons of Asaph (gatherer).

2 Meshelemiah (whom YHWH repays) had sons: Zechariah (YHWH remembers) the firstborn, Jediael (God makes known) the second, Zebadiah (endowment of YHWH) the third, Jathniel (God hires me) the fourth,

3 Elam (eternity) the fifth, Jehohanan (YHWH has graced) the sixth, and Eliehoenai (unto YHWH are my eyes) the seventh.

4 And Obed-edom (servant of Edom) also had sons: Shemaiah (heard by YHWH) the firstborn, Jehozabad (YHWH has endowed) the second, Joah (YHWH is brother) the third, Sachar (wages) the fourth, Nethanel (given of God) the fifth,

5 Ammiel (my kinsman is God) the sixth, Issachar (there is recompense) the seventh, and Peullethai (work) the eighth. For God {Elohim} had blessed Obed-edom.

6 Also to his son Shemaiah (heard by YHWH) were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men.

7 Shemaiah’s (heard by YHWH) sons were Othni (lion of YHWH), Rephael (healed of God), Obed (serving), and Elzabad (God has given); his brothers were Elihu (He is my God) and Semachiah (YHWH has sustained), also capable men.

8 All these were descendants of Obed-edom (servant of Edom); they and their sons and brothers were capable men with strength to do the work—62 in all from Obed-edom.

9 Meshelemiah (whom YHWH repays) also had sons and brothers who were capable men—18 in all.
