Then I turned to look, and there was a flying scroll! Again I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, a flying scroll! I looked again, and there before me was a flying scroll.
Someone asked me, |What do you see?| I replied, |I see a flying scroll thirty feet long and fifteen feet wide.| And he said to me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll. Its length is twenty cubits, and its width ten cubits.” He asked me, “What do you see?” I answered, “I see a flying scroll, twenty cubits long and ten cubits wide.”
The speaker went on to say, |This is a curse traveling across the whole earth. For example, according to the curse whoever steals will be removed from the community; or on the other hand (according to the curse) whoever swears falsely will suffer the same fate.| Then he said to me, “This is the curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who steals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who swears falsely shall be cleaned out according to what is on the other side. And he said to me, “This is the curse that is going out over the whole land; for according to what it says on one side, every thief will be banished, and according to what it says on the other, everyone who swears falsely will be banished.
|I will send it out,| says the LORD who rules over all, |and it will enter the house of the thief and of the person who swears falsely in my name. It will land in the middle of his house and destroy both timber and stones.| I will send it out, declares the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter the house of the thief, and the house of him who swears falsely by my name. And it shall remain in his house and consume it, both timber and stones.” The LORD Almighty declares, ‘I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’”
After this the angelic messenger who had been speaking to me went out and said, |Look, see what is leaving.| Then the angel who talked with me came forward and said to me, “Lift your eyes and see what this is that is going out.” Then the angel who was speaking to me came forward and said to me, “Look up and see what is appearing.”
I asked, |What is it?| And he replied, |It is a basket for measuring grain that is moving away from here.| Moreover, he said, |This is their 'eye' throughout all the earth.| And I said, “What is it?” He said, “This is the basket that is going out.” And he said, “This is their iniquity in all the land.” I asked, “What is it?” He replied, “It is a basket.” And he added, “This is the iniquity of the people throughout the land.”
Then a round lead cover was raised up, revealing a woman sitting inside the basket. And behold, the leaden cover was lifted, and there was a woman sitting in the basket! Then the cover of lead was raised, and there in the basket sat a woman!
He then said, |This woman represents wickedness,| and he pushed her down into the basket and placed the lead cover on top. And he said, “This is Wickedness.” And he thrust her back into the basket, and thrust down the leaden weight on its opening. He said, “This is wickedness,” and he pushed her back into the basket and pushed its lead cover down on it.
Then I looked again and saw two women going forth with the wind in their wings (they had wings like those of a stork) and they lifted up the basket between the earth and the sky. Then I lifted my eyes and saw, and behold, two women coming forward! The wind was in their wings. They had wings like the wings of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between earth and heaven. Then I looked up—and there before me were two women, with the wind in their wings! They had wings like those of a stork, and they lifted up the basket between heaven and earth.
I asked the messenger who was speaking to me, |Where are they taking the basket?| Then I said to the angel who talked with me, “Where are they taking the basket?” “Where are they taking the basket?” I asked the angel who was speaking to me.
He replied, |To build a temple for her in the land of Babylonia. When it is finished, she will be placed there in her own residence.| He said to me, “To the land of Shinar, to build a house for it. And when this is prepared, they will set the basket down there on its base.” He replied, “To the country of Babylonia to build a house for it. When the house is ready, the basket will be set there in its place.”
