Written by the Korahites; a psalm, a song. The LORD's city is in the holy hills. On the holy mount stands the city he founded; Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm. A song. He has founded his city on the holy mountain.
The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob. The LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob.
People say wonderful things about you, O city of God. (Selah) Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of God. Selah Glorious things are said of you, city of God:
I mention Rahab and Babylon to my followers. Here are Philistia and Tyre, along with Ethiopia. It is said of them, |This one was born there.| Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush— “This one was born there,” they say. “I will record Rahab and Babylon among those who acknowledge me— Philistia too, and Tyre, along with Cush — and will say, ‘This one was born in Zion.’”
But it is said of Zion's residents, |Each one of these was born in her, and the sovereign One makes her secure.| And of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”; for the Most High himself will establish her. Indeed, of Zion it will be said, “This one and that one were born in her, and the Most High himself will establish her.”
The LORD writes in the census book of the nations, |This one was born there.| (Selah) The LORD records as he registers the peoples, “This one was born there.” Selah The LORD will write in the register of the peoples: “This one was born in Zion.”
As for the singers, as well as the pipers--all of them sing within your walls. Singers and dancers alike say, “All my springs are in you.” As they make music they will sing, “All my fountains are in you.”
