1 For the music director; by David; written to get God's attention. O God, please be willing to rescue me! O LORD, hurry and help me! Make haste, O God, to deliver me! O LORD, make haste to help me! For the director of music. Of David. A petition. Hasten, O God, to save me; come quickly, LORD, to help me.
2 May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed! May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed! Let them be put to shame and confusion who seek my life! Let them be turned back and brought to dishonor who delight in my hurt! May those who want to take my life be put to shame and confusion; may all who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
3 May those who say, |Aha! Aha!| be driven back and disgraced! Let them turn back because of their shame who say, “Aha, Aha!” May those who say to me, “Aha! Aha!” turn back because of their shame.
4 May all those who seek you be happy and rejoice in you! May those who love to experience your deliverance say continually, |May God be praised!| May all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you! May those who love your salvation say evermore, “God is great!” But may all who seek you rejoice and be glad in you; may those who long for your saving help always say, “The LORD is great!”
5 I am oppressed and needy! O God, hurry to me! You are my helper and my deliverer! O LORD, do not delay! But I am poor and needy; hasten to me, O God! You are my help and my deliverer; O LORD, do not delay! But as for me, I am poor and needy; come quickly to me, O God. You are my help and my deliverer; LORD, do not delay.
