For the choirmaster. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of David. Save me, O God, for the waters are up to my neck. Save me, O God! For the waters have come up to my neck. To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. For the music director; according to Shoshannim. A Psalm of David. Save me, God, For the waters have threatened my life. For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies.” Of David. Save me, O God, for the waters have come up to my neck.
I have sunk into the miry depths, where there is no footing; I have drifted into deep waters, where the flood engulfs me. I sink in deep mire, where there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and the flood sweeps over me. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. I have sunk in deep mud, and there is no foothold; I have come into deep waters, and a flood overflows me. I sink in the miry depths, where there is no foothold. I have come into the deep waters; the floods engulf me.
I am weary from my crying; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God. I am weary with my crying out; my throat is parched. My eyes grow dim with waiting for my God. I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched; My eyes fail while I wait for my God. I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.
Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs of my head; many are those who would destroy me— my enemies for no reason. Though I did not steal, I must repay. More in number than the hairs of my head are those who hate me without cause; mighty are those who would destroy me, those who attack me with lies. What I did not steal must I now restore? They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. Those who hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, those who oppose me with lies; What I did not steal, I then have to restore. Those who hate me without reason outnumber the hairs of my head; many are my enemies without cause, those who seek to destroy me. I am forced to restore what I did not steal.
You know my folly, O God, and my guilt is not hidden from You. O God, you know my folly; the wrongs I have done are not hidden from you. O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee. God, You know my foolishness, And my guilt is not hidden from You. You, God, know my folly; my guilt is not hidden from you.
May those who hope in You not be ashamed through me, O Lord GOD of Hosts; may those who seek You not be dishonored through me, O God of Israel. Let not those who hope in you be put to shame through me, O Lord GOD of hosts; let not those who seek you be brought to dishonor through me, O God of Israel. Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel. May those who wait for You not be ashamed because of me, Lord GOD of armies; May those who seek You not be dishonored because of me, God of Israel, Lord, the LORD Almighty, may those who hope in you not be disgraced because of me; God of Israel, may those who seek you not be put to shame because of me.
For I have endured scorn for Your sake, and shame has covered my face. For it is for your sake that I have borne reproach, that dishonor has covered my face. Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. Because for Your sake I have endured disgrace; Dishonor has covered my face. For I endure scorn for your sake, and shame covers my face.
I have become a stranger to my brothers and a foreigner to my mother’s sons, I have become a stranger to my brothers, an alien to my mother’s sons. I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children. I have become estranged from my brothers, And a stranger to my mother’s sons. I am a foreigner to my own family, a stranger to my own mother’s children;
because zeal for Your house has consumed me, and the insults of those who insult You have fallen on me. For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. For zeal for Your house has consumed me, And the taunts of those who taunt You have fallen on me. for zeal for your house consumes me, and the insults of those who insult you fall on me.
I wept and fasted, but it brought me reproach. When I wept and humbled my soul with fasting, it became my reproach. When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. When I wept in my soul with fasting, It became my disgrace. When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn;
I made sackcloth my clothing, and I was sport to them. When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a byword to them. I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. When I made sackcloth my clothing, I became a proverb to them. when I put on sackcloth, people make sport of me.
Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of drunkards. I am the talk of those who sit in the gate, and the drunkards make songs about me. They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. Those who sit in the gate talk about me, And songs of mockery by those habitually drunk are about me. Those who sit at the gate mock me, and I am the song of the drunkards.
But my prayer to You, O LORD, is for a time of favor. In Your abundant loving devotion, O God, answer me with Your sure salvation. But as for me, my prayer is to you, O LORD. At an acceptable time, O God, in the abundance of your steadfast love answer me in your saving faithfulness. But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation. But as for me, my prayer is to You, LORD, at an acceptable time; God, in the greatness of Your mercy, Answer me with Your saving truth. But I pray to you, LORD, in the time of your favor; in your great love, O God, answer me with your sure salvation.
Rescue me from the mire and do not let me sink; deliver me from my foes and out of the deep waters. Deliver me from sinking in the mire; let me be delivered from my enemies and from the deep waters. Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters. Rescue me from the mud and do not let me sink; May I be rescued from those who hate me, and from the depths of water. Rescue me from the mire, do not let me sink; deliver me from those who hate me, from the deep waters.
Do not let the floods engulf me or the depths swallow me up; let not the Pit close its mouth over me. Let not the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me up, or the pit close its mouth over me. Let not the waterflood overflow me, neither let the deep swallow me up, and let not the pit shut her mouth upon me. May the flood of water not overflow me Nor the deep swallow me up, Nor the pit close its mouth on me. Do not let the floodwaters engulf me or the depths swallow me up or the pit close its mouth over me.
Answer me, O LORD, for Your loving devotion is good; turn to me in keeping with Your great compassion. Answer me, O LORD, for your steadfast love is good; according to your abundant mercy, turn to me. Hear me, O LORD; for thy lovingkindness is good: turn unto me according to the multitude of thy tender mercies. Answer me, LORD, for Your mercy is good; According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me, Answer me, LORD, out of the goodness of your love; in your great mercy turn to me.
Hide not Your face from Your servant, for I am in distress. Answer me quickly! Hide not your face from your servant, for I am in distress; make haste to answer me. And hide not thy face from thy servant; for I am in trouble: hear me speedily. And do not hide Your face from Your servant, For I am in distress; answer me quickly. Do not hide your face from your servant; answer me quickly, for I am in trouble.
Draw near to my soul and redeem me; ransom me because of my foes. Draw near to my soul, redeem me; ransom me because of my enemies! Draw nigh unto my soul, and redeem it: deliver me because of mine enemies. Come near to my soul and redeem it; Ransom me because of my enemies! Come near and rescue me; deliver me because of my foes.
You know my reproach, my shame and disgrace. All my adversaries are before You. You know my reproach, and my shame and my dishonor; my foes are all known to you. Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee. You know my disgrace, my shame, and my dishonor; All my enemies are known to You. You know how I am scorned, disgraced and shamed; all my enemies are before you.
Insults have broken my heart, and I am in despair. I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found no one. Reproaches have broken my heart, so that I am in despair. I looked for pity, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none. Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. Disgrace has broken my heart, and I am so sick. And I waited for sympathy, but there was none; And for comforters, but I found none. Scorn has broken my heart and has left me helpless; I looked for sympathy, but there was none, for comforters, but I found none.
They poisoned my food with gall and gave me vinegar to quench my thirst. They gave me poison for food, and for my thirst they gave me sour wine to drink. They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. They also gave me a bitter herb in my food, And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. They put gall in my food and gave me vinegar for my thirst.
May their table become a snare; may it be a retribution and a trap. Let their own table before them become a snare; and when they are at peace, let it become a trap. Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. May their table before them become a snare; And when they are at peace, may it become a trap. May the table set before them become a snare; may it become retribution and a trap.
May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever. Let their eyes be darkened, so that they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually. Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake. May their eyes grow dim so that they cannot see, And make their hips shake continually. May their eyes be darkened so they cannot see, and their backs be bent forever.
Pour out Your wrath upon them, and let Your burning anger overtake them. Pour out your indignation upon them, and let your burning anger overtake them. Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. Pour out Your indignation on them, And may Your burning anger overtake them. Pour out your wrath on them; let your fierce anger overtake them.
May their place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in their tents. May their camp be a desolation; let no one dwell in their tents. Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents. May their camp be desolated; May there be none living in their tents. May their place be deserted; let there be no one to dwell in their tents.
For they persecute the one You struck and recount the pain of those You wounded. For they persecute him whom you have struck down, and they recount the pain of those you have wounded. For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. For they have persecuted him whom You Yourself struck, And they tell of the pain of those whom You have wounded. For they persecute those you wound and talk about the pain of those you hurt.
Add iniquity to their iniquity; let them not share in Your righteousness. Add to them punishment upon punishment; may they have no acquittal from you. Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. Add guilt to their guilt, And may they not come into Your righteousness. Charge them with crime upon crime; do not let them share in your salvation.
May they be blotted out of the Book of Life and not listed with the righteous. Let them be blotted out of the book of the living; let them not be enrolled among the righteous. Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. May they be wiped out of the book of life, And may they not be recorded with the righteous. May they be blotted out of the book of life and not be listed with the righteous.
But I am in pain and distress; let Your salvation protect me, O God. But I am afflicted and in pain; let your salvation, O God, set me on high! But I am poor and sorrowful: let thy salvation, O God, set me up on high. But I am afflicted and in pain; May Your salvation, God, set me safely on high. But as for me, afflicted and in pain— may your salvation, God, protect me.
I will praise God’s name in song and exalt Him with thanksgiving. I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving. I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. I will praise the name of God with song, And exalt Him with thanksgiving. I will praise God’s name in song and glorify him with thanksgiving.
And this will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. This will please the LORD more than an ox or a bull with horns and hoofs. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. And it will please the LORD better than an ox Or bull with horns and hoofs. This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with its horns and hooves.
The humble will see and rejoice. You who seek God, let your hearts be revived! When the humble see it they will be glad; you who seek God, let your hearts revive. The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. The humble have seen it and are glad; You who seek God, let your heart revive. The poor will see and be glad— you who seek God, may your hearts live!
For the LORD listens to the needy and does not despise His captive people. For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his own people who are prisoners. For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners. For the LORD hears the needy, And does not despise those of His who are prisoners. The LORD hears the needy and does not despise his captive people.
Let heaven and earth praise Him, the seas and everything that moves in them. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them. Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. Heaven and earth shall praise Him, The seas and everything that moves in them. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and all that move in them,
For God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah, that they may dwell there and possess it. For God will save Zion and build up the cities of Judah, and people shall dwell there and possess it; For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. For God will save Zion and build the cities of Judah, So that they may live there and possess it. for God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah. Then people will settle there and possess it;
The descendants of His servants will inherit it, and those who love His name will settle in it. the offspring of his servants shall inherit it, and those who love his name shall dwell in it. The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein. The descendants of His servants will inherit it, And those who love His name will live in it. the children of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell there.
