1 Of David. Blessed be the LORD, my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle. 2 He is my steadfast love and my fortress, my stronghold and my deliverer. 3 O LORD, what is man, that You regard him, the son of man that You think of him? O LORD, what is man that you regard him, or the son of man that you think of him? LORD, what <i>is</i> man, that thou takest knowledge of him! <i>or</i> the son of man, that thou makest account of him! LORD, what is man, that You look after him? Or a son of man, that You think of him? LORD, what are human beings that you care for them, mere mortals that you think of them?
4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow. Man is like to vanity: his days <i>are</i> as a shadow that passeth away. 8 whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. whose mouths speak lies and whose right hand is a right hand of falsehood. 9 I will sing to You a new song, O God; on a harp of ten strings I will make music to You— I will sing a new song to you, O God; upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to you, I will sing a new song unto thee, O God: upon a psaltery <i>and</i> an instrument of ten strings will I sing praises unto thee. 11 Set me free and rescue me from the grasp of foreigners, whose mouths speak falsehood, whose right hands are deceitful. 12 Then our sons will be like plants nurtured in their youth, our daughters like corner pillars carved to adorn a palace. May our sons in their youth be like plants full grown, our daughters like corner pillars cut for the structure of a palace; That our sons <i>may be</i> as plants grown up in their youth; <i>that</i> our daughters <i>may be</i> as corner stones, polished <i>after</i> the similitude of a palace: When our sons in their youth <i>are</i> like growing plants, And our daughters like corner pillars fashioned for a palace, Then our sons in their youth will be like well-nurtured plants, and our daughters will be like pillars carved to adorn a palace.
13 Our storehouses will be full, supplying all manner of produce; our flocks will bring forth thousands, tens of thousands in our fields. may our granaries be full, providing all kinds of produce; may our sheep bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our fields; <i>That</i> our garners <i>may be</i> full, affording all manner of store: <i>that</i> our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: Our granaries <i>are</i> full, providing every kind <i>of produce,</i> <i>And</i> our flocks deliver thousands and ten thousands in our fields; Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields;
14 Our oxen will bear great loads. There will be no breach in the walls, no going into captivity, and no cry of lament in our streets. may our cattle be heavy with young, suffering no mishap or failure in bearing; may there be no cry of distress in our streets! <i>That</i> our oxen <i>may be</i> strong to labour; <i>that there be</i> no breaking in, nor going out; that <i>there be</i> no complaining in our streets. <i>May</i> our cattle be bred Without mishap and without loss, <i>May there be</i> no outcry in our streets! our oxen will draw heavy loads. There will be no breaching of walls, no going into captivity, no cry of distress in our streets.
15 Blessed are the people of whom this is so; blessed are the people whose God is the LORD. Blessed are the people to whom such blessings fall! Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! Happy <i>is that</i> people, that is in such a case: <i>yea</i>, happy <i>is that</i> people, whose God <i>is</i> the LORD. Blessed are the people who are so situated; Blessed are the people whose God is the LORD! Blessed is the people of whom this is true; blessed is the people whose God is the LORD.
