22 Immediately he followeth her as an ox led to be a victim, and as a lamb playing the wanton, and not knowing that he is drawn like a fool to bonds, All at once he follows her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, or as a stag is caught fast All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose
23 Till the arrow pierce his liver: as if a bird should make haste to the snare, and knoweth not that his life is in danger. till an arrow pierces its liver; as a bird rushes into a snare; he does not know that it will cost him his life. till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.
24 Now therefore, my son, hear me, and attend to the words of my mouth. And now, O sons, listen to me, and be attentive to the words of my mouth. Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say.
25 Let not thy mind be drawn away in her ways: neither be thou deceived with her paths. Let not your heart turn aside to her ways; do not stray into her paths, Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths.
26 For she hath cast down many wounded, and the strongest have been slain by her. for many a victim has she laid low, and all her slain are a mighty throng. Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng.
27 Her house is the way to hell, reaching even to the inner chambers of death. Her house is the way to Sheol, going down to the chambers of death. Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.
