Go to the ant, you sluggard; observe its ways and be wise! Go to the ant, O sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise. Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander, overseer, or ruler, Without having any chief, officer, or ruler, It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,
yet it prepares its food in the summer; it gathers at the harvest what it will eat. she prepares her bread in summer and gathers her food in harvest. yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.
How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep? How long will you lie there, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax, A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—
and your poverty will come like a robber, and your need like an armed man. and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want like an armed man. and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man.
