So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife, shall not be clean when he shall touch her. So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife; none who touches her will go unpunished. So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.
The fault is not so great when a man hath stolen: for he stealeth to fill his hungry soul: People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his appetite when he is hungry, People do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.
And if he be taken he shall restore sevenfold, and shall give up all the substance of his house. but if he is caught, he will pay sevenfold; he will give all the goods of his house. Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.
But he that is an adulterer, for the folly of his heart shall destroy his own soul: He who commits adultery lacks sense; he who does it destroys himself. But a man who commits adultery has no sense; whoever does so destroys himself.
He gathereth to himself shame and dishonour, and his reproach shall not be blotted out: He will get wounds and dishonor, and his disgrace will not be wiped away. Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away.
