My son, attend unto my wisdom; incline thine ear to my understanding: My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight,
That thou mayest preserve discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge. that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.
For the lips of a strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil: For the lips of a forbidden woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil, For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;
But her latter end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. but in the end she is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword. but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol; Her feet go down to death; her steps follow the path to Sheol; Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.
So that she findeth not the level path of life: her ways are unstable and she knoweth it not. she does not ponder the path of life; her ways wander, and she does not know it. She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths wander aimlessly, but she does not know it.
Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth. And now, O sons, listen to me, and do not depart from the words of my mouth. Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house: Keep your way far from her, and do not go near the door of her house, Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house,
