1 My son, be attentive to my wisdom [godly wisdom learned by costly experience], Incline your ear to my understanding; My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding, My son, pay attention to my wisdom, turn your ear to my words of insight,
2 That you may exercise discrimination and discretion (good judgment), And your lips may reserve knowledge and answer wisely [to temptation]. that you may keep discretion, and your lips may guard knowledge. that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.
