12 A generation is pure in its own eyes and yet has not been washed from its filth. There are those who are clean in their own eyes but are not washed of their filth. those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;
13 A generation—how high its eyes, and its eyelids are lifted up! There are those—how lofty are their eyes, how high their eyelids lift! those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;
14 A generation—its teeth are swords and its fangs are knives, to devour the poor from the earth, and needy ones from mankind.
