Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. | Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, | Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, |
For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold. | for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. | for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. |
Wisdom is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. | She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. | She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. |
She offers you long life in her right hand, and riches and honor in her left. | Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. | Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. |
She will guide you down delightful paths; all her ways are satisfying. | Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. | Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. |
Wisdom is a tree of life to those who embrace her; happy are those who hold her tightly. | She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. | She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed. |
