1 FOR behold, the days are coming when my anger shall burn as an oven; and all the wicked and all who do iniquity shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, says the LORD of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch. “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. “Surely the day is coming; it will burn like a furnace. All the arrogant and every evildoer will be stubble, and the day that is coming will set them on fire,” says the LORD Almighty. “Not a root or a branch will be left to them.
2 But for you who revere my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing upon his lips; and you shall go forth and leap for joy like the calves of the herd. But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well-fed calves.
3 And you shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, says the LORD of hosts. And you shall tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I act, says the LORD of hosts. Then you will trample on the wicked; they will be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day when I act,” says the LORD Almighty.
4 Remember the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded to him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments. “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the statutes and rules that I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel. “Remember the law of my servant Moses, the decrees and laws I gave him at Horeb for all Israel.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD; “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes. “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their fathers before I come and smite the earth to ruin. And he will turn the hearts of fathers to their children and the hearts of children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the land with a decree of utter destruction.” He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”
