וַ֭יַּעַן בִּלְדַּ֥ד הַשֻּׁחִ֗י וַיֹּאמַֽר׃ | Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: | Then Bildad the Shuhite replied: |
הַמְשֵׁ֣ל וָפַ֣חַד עִמּ֑וֹ עֹשֶׂ֥ה שָׁ֝ל֗וֹם בִּמְרוֹמָֽיו׃ | “Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. | “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven. |
הֲיֵ֣שׁ מִ֭סְפָּר לִגְדוּדָ֑יו וְעַל־ מִ֝֗י לֹא־ יָק֥וּם אוֹרֵֽהוּ׃ | Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? | Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise? |
וּמַה־ יִּצְדַּ֣ק אֱנ֣וֹשׁ עִם־ אֵ֑ל וּמַה־ יִּ֝זְכֶּ֗ה יְל֣וּד אִשָּֽׁה׃ | How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? | How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? |
הֵ֣ן עַד־ יָ֭רֵחַ וְלֹ֣א יַאֲהִ֑יל וְ֝כוֹכָבִ֗ים לֹא־ זַכּ֥וּ בְעֵינָֽיו׃ | Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; | If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes, |
אַ֭ף כִּֽי־ אֱנ֣וֹשׁ רִמָּ֑ה וּבֶן־ אָ֝דָ֗ם תּוֹלֵעָֽה׃ פ | how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!” | how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot— a human being, who is only a worm!” |
