1 Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said, Then Bildad the Shuhite answered and said: Then Bildad the Shuhite replied:
2 “Dominion and awe belong to God; He establishes peace and order in His high places. “Dominion and fear are with God; he makes peace in his high heaven. “Dominion and awe belong to God; he establishes order in the heights of heaven.
3 “Is there any number to His [vast celestial] armies? And upon whom does His light not rise? Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise? Can his forces be numbered? On whom does his light not rise?
4 “How then can man be justified and righteous with God? Or how can he who is born of a woman be pure and clean? How then can man be in the right before God? How can he who is born of woman be pure? How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure?
5 “Behold, even the moon has no brightness [compared to God’s majesty and glory] And the stars are not pure in His sight, Behold, even the moon is not bright, and the stars are not pure in his eyes; If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his eyes,
6 How much less man, that maggot, And the son of man, that worm!” how much less man, who is a maggot, and the son of man, who is a worm!” how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot— a human being, who is only a worm!”
