But Abraham lodged a complaint against Abimelech concerning a well that Abimelech's servants had seized. When Abraham reproved Abimelech about a well of water that Abimelech’s servants had seized, Then Abraham complained to Abimelek about a well of water that Abimelek’s servants had seized.
|I do not know who has done this thing,| Abimelech replied. |Moreover, you did not tell me. I did not hear about it until today.| Abimelech said, “I do not know who has done this thing; you did not tell me, and I have not heard of it until today.” But Abimelek said, “I don’t know who has done this. You did not tell me, and I heard about it only today.”
Abraham took some sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelech. The two of them made a treaty. So Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave them to Abimelech, and the two men made a covenant. So Abraham brought sheep and cattle and gave them to Abimelek, and the two men made a treaty.
Then Abraham set seven ewe lambs apart from the flock by themselves. Abraham set seven ewe lambs of the flock apart. Abraham set apart seven ewe lambs from the flock,
Abimelech asked Abraham, |What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?| And Abimelech said to Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs that you have set apart?” and Abimelek asked Abraham, “What is the meaning of these seven ewe lambs you have set apart by themselves?”
He replied, |You must take these seven ewe lambs from my hand as legal proof that I dug this well.| He said, “These seven ewe lambs you will take from my hand, that this may be a witness for me that I dug this well.” He replied, “Accept these seven lambs from my hand as a witness that I dug this well.”
That is why he named that place Beer Sheba, because the two of them swore an oath there. Therefore that place was called Beersheba, because there both of them swore an oath. So that place was called Beersheba, because the two men swore an oath there.
So they made a treaty at Beer Sheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol, the commander of his army, returned to the land of the Philistines. So they made a covenant at Beersheba. Then Abimelech and Phicol the commander of his army rose up and returned to the land of the Philistines. After the treaty had been made at Beersheba, Abimelek and Phicol the commander of his forces returned to the land of the Philistines.
Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beer Sheba. There he worshiped the LORD, the eternal God. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba and called there on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God. Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called on the name of the LORD, the Eternal God.
So Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for quite some time. And Abraham sojourned many days in the land of the Philistines. And Abraham stayed in the land of the Philistines for a long time.
