30 All the city was also moved and there was a running together of the people, and having laid hold on Paul, they were drawing him out of the temple, and immediately were the doors shut, Then all the city was stirred up, and the people ran together. They seized Paul and dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut. The whole city was aroused, and the people came running from all directions. 31 and they seeking to kill him, a rumor came to the chief captain of the band that all Jerusalem has been thrown into confusion, And as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of the cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion. While they were trying to kill him, news reached the commander of the Roman troops that the whole city of Jerusalem was in an uproar.
32 who, at once, having taken soldiers and centurions, ran down on them, and they having seen the chief captain and the soldiers, left off beating Paul. He at once took soldiers and centurions and ran down to them. And when they saw the tribune and the soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul.
33 Then the chief captain, having come near, took him, and commanded [him] to be bound with two chains, and was inquiring who he may be, and what it is he has been doing, Then the tribune came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done. The commander came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two chains. Then he asked who he was and what he had done.
