| 1Now, brethren, concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, we ask you, | 1Now we request you, brethren, with regard to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to Him, |
| 2not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come. | 2that you not be quickly shaken from your composure or be disturbed either by a spirit or a message or a letter as if from us, to the effect that the day of the Lord has come. |
| 3Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, | 3Let no one in any way deceive you, for it will not come unless the apostasy comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, |

| 13But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from the beginning chose you for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth, | 13But we should always give thanks to God for you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth. |
| 14to which He called you by our gospel, for the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. | 14It was for this He called you through our gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| 15Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle. | 15So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught, whether by word of mouth or by letter from us. |
