2 Timothy 3
ISV Parallel NLT [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
International Standard VersionNew Living Translation
1You must realize, however, that in the last days difficult times will come. 1You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times.
2People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 2For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred.
3unfeeling, uncooperative, slanderous, degenerate, brutal, hateful of what is good, 3They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.
4traitors, reckless, conceited, and lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God. 4They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God.
5They will hold to an outward form of godliness but deny its power. Stay away from such people. 5They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
6For some of these men go into homes and deceive foolish women who are burdened with sins and swayed by all kinds of desires. 6They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires.
7These women are always studying but are never able to arrive at a full knowledge of the truth. 7(Such women are forever following new teachings, but they are never able to understand the truth.)
8Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men oppose the truth. They are depraved in mind and their faith is a counterfeit. 8These teachers oppose the truth just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses. They have depraved minds and a counterfeit faith.
9But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those two men, their stupidity will be plain to everyone.9But they won’t get away with this for long. Someday everyone will recognize what fools they are, just as with Jannes and Jambres. Paul’s Charge to Timothy
10But you have observed my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance, 10But you, Timothy, certainly know what I teach, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith, my patience, my love, and my endurance.
11and how I was persecuted and suffered in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra. What persecutions I endured! Yet the Lord rescued me from all of them. 11You know how much persecution and suffering I have endured. You know all about how I was persecuted in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra—but the Lord rescued me from all of it.
12Indeed, all who want to live a godly life in union with the Messiah Jesus will be persecuted. 12Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
13But evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse as they deceive others and are themselves deceived.13But evil people and impostors will flourish. They will deceive others and will themselves be deceived.
14But as for you, continue in what you have learned and found to be true, because you know from whom you learned it. 14But you must remain faithful to the things you have been taught. You know they are true, for you know you can trust those who taught you.
15From infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures that are able to give you the wisdom you need for salvation through faith in the Messiah Jesus. 15You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus.
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 16All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.
17so that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good action.17God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.
