Yet God was not pleased with most of them, and their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.
And who made God angry for forty years? Wasn't it the people who sinned, whose corpses lay in the wilderness?
They were registered by families--all the men of Israel who were twenty years old or older and able to go to war.
The total number was 603,550.
Not one person on this list had been among those listed in the previous registration taken by Moses and Aaron in the wilderness of Sinai.
