Ataroth, and Dibon, etc. - The places mentioned here belonged to Sihon, king of the Amorites, and Og, king of Bashan, which being conquered by the Israelites, constituted ever after a part of their territories, Numbers 32:33.

After Moses had sent spies to Jazer, the Israelites captured its surrounding settlements and drove out the Amorites who were there.
So they came to Moses and Eleazar the priest and to the leaders of the community, and said,
The Gadites built up Dibon, Ataroth, Aroer,
Beth Nimrah and Beth Haran as fortified cities, and built pens for their flocks.
Heshbon and Elealeh cry out, their voices are heard all the way to Jahaz. Therefore the armed men of Moab cry out, and their hearts are faint.
Concerning Moab: This is what the LORD Almighty, the God of Israel, says: "Woe to Nebo, for it will be ruined. Kiriathaim will be disgraced and captured; the stronghold will be disgraced and shattered.
