not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their ancestors. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

CommentaryClarke's Commentary on the Bible
All the earth shall be filled, etc. - כל הארץ kol haarets, all This land, i. e., the land of Canaan which was only fulfilled to the letter when the preaching of Christ and his apostles was heard through all the cities and villages of Judea. Ninth Sunday after Trinity Carnal Security and Its vices.

See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the LORD swore he would give to your fathers--to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob--and to their descendants after them."
So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'"
