A man which had his hand withered - Probably through a partial paralysis. The man's hand was withered; but God's mercy had still preserved to him the use of his feet: He uses them to bring him to the public worship of God, and Jesus meets and heals him there. How true is the proverb - It is never so ill with us, but it might be much worse!

When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "Look! Your disciples are doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath."
Some of them were looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, so they watched him closely to see if he would heal him on the Sabbath.
Indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, the synagogue leader said to the people, "There are six days for work. So come and be healed on those days, not on the Sabbath."
Jesus asked the Pharisees and experts in the law, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?"
and so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, "It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat."
Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man's whole body on the Sabbath?
