Parallel Verses New International Version As for their appearance, the four of them looked alike; each was like a wheel intersecting a wheel. King James Bible And as for their appearances, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel had been in the midst of a wheel. Darby Bible Translation And as for their appearance, they four had one likeness, as if a wheel were in the midst of a wheel. World English Bible As for their appearance, the four of them had one likeness, like a wheel within a wheel. Young's Literal Translation As to their appearances, one likeness is to them four, as it were the wheel in the midst of the wheel. Ezekiel 10:10 Parallel Commentary Clarke's Commentary on the BibleA wheel had been in the midst of a wheel - It is difficult to comprehend this description. It is generally supposed to mean one wheel within another, cutting each other at right angles. This, in my opinion, will not account for the motions attributed to these wheels; nor can I see how, on this supposition, they could have any motion; for if one was moved on its axis, the other must be dragged contrary to its axis. I have conjectured it rather to mean a wheel within a wheel, or a wheel with two rims, working on the same axis. See on Ezekiel 1:16-18 (note). Yet he is a historical figure of the first importance; it was very largely from him that Judaism received the ecclesiastical impulse by which for centuries it was powerfully … John Edgar McFadyen—Introduction to the Old Testament Cross References Ezekiel 10:9 I looked, and I saw beside the cherubim four wheels, one beside each of the cherubim; the wheels sparkled like topaz. Ezekiel 10:11 As they moved, they would go in any one of the four directions the cherubim faced; the wheels did not turn about as the cherubim went. The cherubim went in whatever direction the head faced, without turning as they went.
