Ἄζωτος, , , אַשְׁדֹּד, Azotus, Ashdod, one of the five chief cities of the Philistines, lying between Ashkelon and Jamnia (i. e. Jabneel) and near the Mediterranean: Acts 8:40; at present a petty village, Esdud.
