but I said to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"

but I replied, "Long live the king! How can I not be sad? For the city where my ancestors are buried is in ruins, and the gates have been destroyed by fire."

I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ graves, lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?”

I said to the king, "Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?"

And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

and replied to the king, "May the king live forever! Why should I not be sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins and its gates have been destroyed by fire?"

I replied to the king, "May the king live forever. Why shouldn't I be troubled, since the city where my ancestral sepulchers are located lies waste, with its gates burned by fire?"

I replied to the king, "O king, live forever! Why would I not appear dejected when the city with the graves of my ancestors lies desolate and its gates destroyed by fire?"

"May the king live forever!" I said to the king. "Why shouldn't I look sad when the city, the place where my ancestors are buried, is in ruins and its gates are burned down?"

and said unto the king, Let the king live for ever; why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the house of my fathers' sepulchres, lies waste, and its gates are consumed with fire?

And said unto the king, Let the king live forever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

And said to the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchers, lies waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

And I said to the king: O king, live for ever: why should not my countenance be sorrowful, seeing the city of the place of the sepulchres of my fathers is desolate, and the gates thereof are burnt with fire?

And I said to the king, Let the king live for ever! Why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lies waste, and its gates are consumed with fire?

And I said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?

I said to the king, "Let the king live forever! Why shouldn't my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers' tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?"

and say to the king, 'Let the king to the age live! wherefore should not my face be sad, when the city, the place of the graves of my fathers, is a waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?'

dhe i thashë mbretit: "Rroftë mbreti përjetë! Si mund të mos jetë fytyra ime e trishtuar kur qyteti ku janë varrosur etërit e mi është shkatërruar dhe portat e tij janë konsumuar nga zjarri?".

وقلت للملك. ليحيى الملك الى الابد. كيف لا يكمد وجهي والمدينة بيت مقابر آبائي خراب وابوابها قد اكلتها النار.

i rekoh kralju: "Neka uvijek živi kralj! Kako mi lice ne bi bilo tužno kad je grad gdje su grobovi mojih otaca razoren, a vrata mu ognjem spaljena?"

Nehemiás 2:3
Akkor mondék a királynak: Örökké éljen a király! Miért nem volna szomorú az én orczám, hiszen a város, az én atyáim sírjainak helye, pusztán hever és kapui megemésztettek tûzben?!

kaj mi diris al la regxo:La regxo vivu eterne; kiel mi povas ne aspekti malbone, kiam la urbo, kiu estas la tomboloko de miaj patroj, estas dezertigita, kaj gxiaj pordegoj estas forbruligitaj per fajro?

Niin minä sanoin kuninkaalle: eläköön kuningas ijankaikkisesti! Eikö kasvoni mahda olla murheelliset, kuin se kaupunki, jossa isäni hautaushuone on, kylmillä on, ja sen portit ovat tulella kulutetut?

Et je dis au roi: Que le roi vive à toujours! Pourquoi mon visage ne serait-il pas triste, quand la ville, le lieu des sépulcres de mes pères, est dévastée, et que ses portes sont consumées par le feu.

et je répondis au roi: Que le roi vive éternellement! Comment n'aurais-je pas mauvais visage, lorsque la ville où sont les sépulcres de mes pères est détruite et que ses portes sont consumées par le feu?

Et je répondis au Roi : Que le Roi vive éternellement! Comment mon visage ne serait-il pas mauvais, puisque la ville qui est le lieu des sépulcres de mes pères, demeure désolée, et que ses portes ont été consumées par le feu?

Nehemia 2:3
und sprach zum Könige: Der König lebe ewiglich! Sollte ich nicht übel sehen? Die Stadt, da das Haus des Begräbnisses meiner Väter ist, liegt wüste und ihre Tore sind mit Feuer verzehret.

Und ich sprach zum Könige: Der König möge immerdar leben! Warum sollte ich nicht schlecht aussehen, wenn die Stadt, die Begräbnisstätte meiner Väter, wüste liegt, und ihre Thore vom Feuer verzehrt sind?

e dissi al re: "Viva il re in eterno! Come potrebbe il mio aspetto non esser triste quando la città dove sono i sepolcri de’ miei padri è distrutta e le sue porte son consumate dal fuoco?"

e dissi al re: Possa il re vivere in perpetuo; come non sarebbe la mia faccia mesta, rimanendo la città, che è il luogo delle sepolture de’ miei padri, distrutta, e le sue porte consumate dal fuoco?

NEHEMIA 2:3
Maka sembahku kepada baginda: Daulat tuanku sampai selama-lamanya! Bagaimana gerangan tiada suram muka patik, sedang negeri, tempat pekuburan nenek moyang patik, sudah rusak dan segala pintu gerbangnyapun sudah habis dimakan api?

e justifiquei ao rei: “Que o rei viva para sempre! Como meu rosto não estaria triste, se a cidade em que está o sepulcro dos meus pais está completamente destruída e as suas portas consumidas pelo fogo?”

e disse ao rei: Viva o rei para sempre! Como não há de estar triste o meu rosto, estando na cidade, o lugar dos sepulcros de meus pais, assolada, e tendo sido consumidas as suas portas pelo fogo?    

Neemia 2:3
şi am răspuns împăratului: ,,Trăiască împăratul în veac! Cum să n'am faţa tristă, cînd cetatea în care sînt mormintele părinţilor mei este nimicită şi porţile ei sînt arse de foc?``
