"'Because they lead my people astray, saying, "Peace," when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash,

"This will happen because these evil prophets deceive my people by saying, 'All is peaceful' when there is no peace at all! It's as if the people have built a flimsy wall, and these prophets are trying to reinforce it by covering it with whitewash!

Precisely because they have misled my people, saying, ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when the people build a wall, these prophets smear it with whitewash,

"It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying, 'Peace!' when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;

Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter:

Since they have led My people astray saying, 'Peace,' when there is no peace, for when someone builds a wall they plaster it with whitewash,

because they've truly caused my people to stray saying, "Peace," but there's no peace.'" "When someone builds a wall, they coat it with whitewash.

"'This is because they have led my people astray saying, "All is well," when things are not well. When anyone builds a wall without mortar, they coat it with whitewash.

" 'They have deceived my people by saying that everything is alright, but it's not alright. When someone builds a flimsy wall, the prophets cover it up with paint.

Therefore and because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up the wall, and, behold, others plastered it with loose mud:

Visto que fazeis meu povo desviar-se da verdade pregando-lhe: ‘Paz’ quando, na verdade, não há possibilidade alguma de paz, e quando labutam na construção de um muro fraco e tentam esconder sua fragilidade rebocando-o com argamassa e passando cal.

Portanto, sim, porquanto desviaram o meu povo, dizendo: Paz; e não há paz; e quando se edifica uma parede, eis que a rebocam de argamassa fraca;
