Then Daniel (also called Belteshazzar) was greatly perplexed for a time, and his thoughts terrified him. So the king said, "Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its meaning alarm you." Belteshazzar answered, "My lord, if only the dream applied to your enemies and its meaning to your adversaries!

"Upon hearing this, Daniel (also known as Belteshazzar) was overcome for a time, frightened by the meaning of the dream. Then the king said to him, 'Belteshazzar, don't be alarmed by the dream and what it means.' "Belteshazzar replied, 'I wish the events foreshadowed in this dream would happen to your enemies, my lord, and not to you!

Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was dismayed for a while, and his thoughts alarmed him. The king answered and said, “Belteshazzar, let not the dream or the interpretation alarm you.” Belteshazzar answered and said, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you and its interpretation for your enemies!

But the king answering, said: Baltassar, let not the dream and the interpretation thereof trouble thee. Baltassar answered, and said: My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thy enemies.

Then Daniel, whose name is Belteshazzar, was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spoke and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, nor its interpretation, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that hate thee, and its interpretation to thine enemies!

Alors Daniel, dont le nom était Beltesatsar, demeura tout étonné environ une heure, et ses pensées le troublaient; [et] le Roi [lui] parla, et dit : Beltesatsar, que le songe ni son interprétation ne te trouble point; [et] Beltesatsar répondit, et dit : Mon Seigneur, que le songe arrive à ceux qui t'ont en haine, et son interprétation à tes ennemis!

Da entsetzte sich Daniel, der sonst Beltsazar heißt, bei einer Stunde lang und seine Gedanken betrübten ihn. Aber der König sprach: Beltsazar, laß dich den Traum und seine Deutung nicht betrüben. Beltsazar fing an und sprach: Ach mein Herr, daß der Traum deinen Feinden und seine Deutung deinen Widersachern gälte!

Darauf war Daniel, genannt Beltsazar, eine Weile starr vor Entsetzen, und seine Gedanken machten ihn bestürzt. Der König aber hob an und sprach: Beltsazar! Laß dich durch den Traum und seine Deutung nicht erschrecken! Beltsazar antwortete und sprach: O Herr! Der Traum gelte denen, die dich hassen, und, was er bedeutet, deinen Feinden!

Então Daniel, cujo nome era Beltessazar, esteve atônito por algum tempo, e os seus pensamentos o perturbaram. Falou, pois, o rei e disse: Beltessazar, não te espante o sonho, nem a sua interpretação. Respondeu Beltessazar, e disse: Senhor meu, seja o sonho para os que te odeiam, e a sua interpretação para os teus inimigos:
