He exhorts to put away wickedness;
showing that Christ is the foundation whereupon they are built.

         kai  o  pisteuōn  ep  autō  ou  mē  kataischunthē. 
7 umin  oun  ē  timē  tois  pisteuousin,  apistousin  de 
      lithos  on  apedokimasan  oi  oikodomountes, 
            outos  egenēthē  eis  kephalēn  gōnias 
8 kai 
      lithos  proskommatos 
            kai  petra  skandalou· 
         oi  proskoptousin  tō  logō  apeithountes  eis  o 
            kai  etethēsan. 
   9 umeis  de  genos  eklekton,  basileion  ierateuma,  ethnos  agion,  laos  eis  peripoiēsin,  opōs  tas  aretas  exangeilēte  tou  ek  skotous  umas  kalesantos  eis  to  thaumaston  autou  phōs· 
      10 oi  pote  ou  laos 
            nun  de  laos  theou 
         oi  ouk  ēleēmenoi 
            nun  de  eleēthentes. 
He beseeches them also to abstain from sinful desires;
to be obedient to authorities;
and teaches servants how to obey their masters;
patiently suffering for well doing, after the example of Christ.
