(a) That is, of Ziph 1Sa 23:14. (b) Though he was both hungry and in great distress, yet he made God above all meat and drink. To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. To see thy power and thy glory, so as {c} I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
(c) In this misery I exercise myself in the contemplation of your power and glory, as if I were in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

(d) The remembrance of your favour is more sweet to me than all the pleasures and dainties of the world. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches. When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.

(e) He assures himself by the Spirit of God to have the gift of constancy. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. {f} They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes.
(f) He prophecies of the destruction of Saul and they who take his part, whose bodies will not be buried but be devoured with wild beasts. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that {g} sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. (g) All who swear by God correctly or profess him will rejoice in this worthy king. The Geneva Bible Translation Notes [1599] Bible Hub |
