Tobit 14:11
Good News Translation
So now, my children, you see what happens to those who show their concern for others, and how death awaits those who treat others unjustly. But now I am very weak." Then they laid Tobit on his bed. He died and was given an honorable burial.

New Revised Standard Version
So now, my children, see what almsgiving accomplishes, and what injustice does—it brings death! But now my breath fails me.” Then they laid him on his bed, and he died; and he received an honorable funeral.

Contemporary English Version
So, my children, you can see that God will protect you if you give to the poor; but when you do what is evil, you will be killed. And now, my life is slipping away. They helped Tobit lie down on his bed, and when he died, they buried him with honor.

New American Bible
The day you bury your mother next to me, do not even stay overnight within the confines of the city. For I see that there is much wickedness in it, and much treachery is practiced in it, and people are not ashamed. See, my son, all that Nadin did to Ahiqar, the very one who reared him. Was not Ahiqar brought down alive into the earth? Yet God made Nadin’s disgraceful crime rebound against him. Ahiqar came out again into the light, but Nadin went into the everlasting darkness, for he had tried to kill Ahiqar. Because Ahiqar had given alms he escaped from the deadly trap Nadin had set for him. But Nadin fell into the deadly trap himself, and it destroyed him.

Douay-Rheims Bible
And command your children that they do justice and almsdeeds, and that they be mindful of God, and bless him at all times in truth, and with all their power.
