Sirach 4:3
Good News Translation
Don't add to the troubles of someone who is already desperate. If he is in need, don't put off giving to him.

New Revised Standard Version
Do not add to the troubles of the desperate, or delay giving to the needy.

Contemporary English Version
And if they are upset already, don't make things worse by being slow in giving them what they need.

Do not aggravate a heart already angry, nor delay giving to the needy.
